Giveline.com is a revolutionary online store created for the community-minded shopper. Every transaction in our store generates a financial contribution to your favorite cause. And with our direct supplier relationships, this contribution is significant and truly makes a difference. We are not a charity mall or affiliate portal. We sell mainstream, bestselling products directly - and give proceeds to charitable and cause-related organizations you care about.
What products do you sell?
Giveline sells a wide range of high-demand products including books, music CDs, DVDs, electronics, housewares, and specialty gift items. Our product catalog is constantly growing, so please check back often to search for your favorite products.
How much money does my cause actually receive?
Giveline operates with an "open book" philosophy. This means that throughout the checkout process we display the exact portion of your transaction - to the penny - which will be paid directly to the selected organization. Unlike "charity malls" and traditional affiliate marketing programs which distribute small (and usually unknown) percentages of a third party's affiliate fee, Giveline creates a direct and absolute payment link between you and the beneficiary. There are no middlemen, and no invisible calculations. The result is our store beneficiaries receiving six times the donation of those other programs, an average of nearly 16% of the product price (ranging between 7% and 33%, depending on various margins of products purchased).
How were the current charitable organizations and causes listed on Giveline selected?
All of the organizations and causes listed on Giveline have been added by our user community, which includes individual customers, corporate partners, and the nonprofit organizations themselves. When the organization is suggested by a user not directly involved or employed with it, we contact that organization for approval. We also check our 501(c) database provided by the IRS and our school database to verify that organizations are real and in good standing. Every organization has the right to remove its Giveline listing - we only list organizations that want to be included - to request removal please do so by contacting us.
Are you a member of the Better Business Bureau?
Yes. Giveline is a member of the Better Business Bureau. You will notice throughout this site a Better Business Bureau logo that marks our participation in the BBB Online Reliability program. We have joined the Better Business Bureau to highlight Giveline's commitment to ethical and fair business practices. Why are discounts optional? Why can I select my price?
Giveline is the only retailer in existence offering a Donate Discount™ option to customers. We are giving you the choice! You may accept the offered discount and pay a lower, competitive price, OR instead choose Donate Discount™ and pay full price, therefore increasing the donation amount to the beneficiary you have chosen. Please note that all purchases generate profits for the beneficiary organization regardless of this discount decision; Donate Discount™ just adds that incremental amount to the overall donation.
Will I find product discounts on Giveline?
Absolutely. Just like any other competitive online retailer, Giveline offers a wide range of generous discounts. We also allow you, the shopper, to waive your discount and pay full price, which directly increases the contribution generated by your transaction.
Can my products be sold in the Giveline store?
At this time, Giveline does not allow individuals or organizations to sell their products on Giveline. If your book, CD, or DVD is currently sold through major distributors, chances are we will already carry the item. If you are a wholesale distributor, or a retailer willing to offer special pricing to benefit the community, please contact us.
This seems too good to be true. How can we trust you?
Trust is an important issue when shopping online, and we suggest that you evaluate our company and website by (1) looking at our dispute record with the Better Business Bureau, (2) looking through the list of amazing organizations who are working with us, (3) reviewing the "About Us" section of our website, (4) searching for "Giveline" on a search engine such as Google or Yahoo!, and (5) looking at the security and web transaction partners we have, including Network Solutions and JP Morgan Chase. Can I send a product to someone else as a gift?
Yes. During checkout you will be able to designate each product's shipping location.
What does Giveline do with my contact and billing information?
Giveline takes your privacy very seriously, and will never sell or distribute contact information. We only use this information to effectively conduct business with Giveline customers and the organizations we support. Please refer to our Privacy Policy to become familiar with our strict standards for protecting your personal information. And most importantly: never, under any circumstances, do we store your credit card number. Transactions are handled by Chase Paymentech.
Are my Giveline purchases considered tax-deductible by the IRS?
According to the IRS, the amount of any donation during the transaction may be considered tax-deductible if (1) you are knowingly paying an amount over and above the fair market price of a product, and (2) the organization receiving that donation qualifies under section 170 of the IRS code as a nonprofit organization. Giveline fully discloses the exact dollar amount of your purchase that goes to your beneficiary (both during checkout and on customer receipts); however, we are not qualified to give tax advice, and we recommend you consult a tax advisor or the IRS on matters of tax deductibility. What does "Out of Stock" or "Temporarily Out of Stock" mean?
When items are "Out of Stock," Giveline does not actively sell the item at that particular time because the item is sold out and no new items have been ordered. "Temporarily Out of Stock" refers to items not currently in the warehouse but on the way to the warehouse, and as such Giveline sells those items and expects to deliver those items within three weeks.
How can I find out when Giveline will have stock for an "Out of Stock" item?
We continuously update our inventory, so the best thing to do is to keep checking. If you would like, you may contact customer service and ask when the product will be available, but we cannot always give a definite arrival date. If you want to place a large quantity (bulk) order for an item that is out of stock, please contact us and we will check with the manufacturer or publisher about availability.
Can I purchase products which have not yet been released?
Yes. If a product's release date is a date in the future (a "pre-release" product), you can purchase that product today (we will charge your credit card), and the product will ship within 24 hours of becoming available to Giveline. Pre-release products must ship separately from products currently in stock, and therefore require a separate shipping charge as explained in Shipping & Returns.
The Discount Code I am using does not seem to be working. What is wrong?
Codes can be for a particular product or for a particular method of shipping. Please be certain you are selecting a qualified product and that the form of delivery (i.e. USPS Media Mail or UPS Ground) is supported by the discount code. Also check the expiration date. If you are still having trouble with the code, please contact us.

How does Giveline ship the products I order?
Giveline store customers are offered different shipping options during the checkout process, including USPS and UPS shipping. Please view our Shipping & Returns page for more information on these shipping options.
How quickly does Giveline ship a product after I purchase it?
In-stock products will usually be shipped within 24 to 48 hours of the order. In the event a product is not in stock, Giveline will ship the product within 24 hours of the product becoming available. Usually, replacing out-of-stock products takes no longer than three weeks. Pre-release products will ship within 24 hours of the product's release date.
Can I return products purchased from a Giveline store?
Giveline store transactions result in profits which must subsequently be paid to the selected beneficiary. When you purchase a product from Giveline, you are contributing to the fundraising efforts of your selected organization; accordingly, we can only allow returns given the following conditions: (1) a customer receives a damaged or defective product, or (2) a customer receives the wrong product and that product remains unopened in its original packaging. How can I find out the status of my order?
You may find the status of your order as well as shipment tracking information by logging into your account and viewing your transaction details.
Can I track my shipment?
Tracking is only available for products delivered using UPS shipping options; tracking is not available using USPS Media Mail; however we do have shipping confirmation to verify that a product has been delivered. To track your order, either (1) use the link provided in the order confirmation e-mail sent to you by the Giveline system, or (2) retrieve your tracking number from My Account and enter it in the UPS tracking screen.
After placing my order, I realized I chose the wrong shipping address. Can I change the address?
In order to ship products quickly, we process orders within minutes of when they are received. If you realize the mistake immediately after placing the order, contact us as soon as possible and let us know what change you would like to make. If we have not processed the order, it is possible to make the change for you. Please note that you may change the shipping address of any product during the "Shipping Options" section of checkout.
I only received some (not all) of the items in my order. Where are the other items?
It is likely that part of your order has been place on backorder. You should have received an e-mail detailing you of this. We are happy to look into the order for you, please contact us and provide the details of your order. We will resolve the issue and be back in touch with you within two business days.
Do you ship products outside of the United States?
We do not ship regular online orders outside of the United States. However, we can make special exceptions for large quantity (bulk) orders, in which case you will need to contact us and place the order offline.
Questions About Gift Cards

Online at www.giveline.com/card. By entering your card code information at this location, your shopping experience will be customized with the available cause or causes that you can support with your card's redemption. If you prefer to shop around before entering your code, you can enter the code during the transaction process to redeem the card's value. If the transaction amount is less than the value of the card, there will be a remaining balance associated with that card's code which can be viewed in the My Account page and redeemed on future purchases. If the transaction amount exceeds the value of the card, then the card owner must use another form of payment for the amount of the transaction not covered by the card.
How do you deliver gift cards?
For physical (plastic) gift cards, we ship them using standard USPS delivery with a cardholder and envelope. The gift cards should arrive within 7 to 10 business days. For bulk purchases, gift cards are sent using UPS or Fed-Ex and arrive within 2 to 3 business days. For online gift cards, we send them immediately upon purchase via e-mail.
What amounts can I place on gift cards?
You can select a variety of card values between $5 and $500 for both online and plastic gift cards.
Do the cards ever expire?
Our cards never expire and carry no hidden fees. There are some exceptions for promotional cards that were given to you for free, such as promotional cards associated with American Heart Association events.
Why do you suggest I attach my gift card to my account before shopping?
For two reasons. First, we want to make sure you see the cause or causes attached to your gift card. When the purchaser bought your Giveline gift card, they had the option to select which cause (or causes) will benefit from your card's redemption. Second, it helps us protect the value on your card from theft or loss by attaching the gift card code to your Giveline account.
What does it mean when I'm told a gift card is already attached to an account?
This means that the card code has already been entered by a user (and possibly by you) in our online store, and that gift card amount has already been credited to the user's account. This happens automatically when a card recipient comes to the site to check a card balance. In order to use the remaining balance on the card you must log into your account using the e-mail address you created it with and you will find your gift card credits there.
Can I donate my entire card balance or remaining balance to a charitable organization?
Giveline is an online retail store and we do not offer the option to donate the value of your gift card directly to the selected cause. You must make a purchase in the store and select a cause to receive your donation from the transaction.
Questions for Charitable Organizations and Causes New to Giveline

How can I join Giveline?
If you cannot find your organization or the cause you would like to donate to in our store, you may request to add the cause to our listings by entering their information on the Add Cause page. We will approve the organization immediately if there is a match with our IRS database or school database if the person submitting works for the organization. If not, we will approve or reject the suggestion within two business days. If you are not affiliated with the organization you submitted for inclusion on Giveline (i.e. you are a supporter or volunteer), Giveline will contact that organization to get their approval for entry into the Giveline system. Nonprofit organizations and all other causes must elect to participate and join Giveline.
How much does it cost to be listed on Giveline and have a customized store "view"?
Any organization can be listed on Giveline for free. There is never any cost to be included as a potential beneficiary of Giveline transactions. Giveline is a store created for the community, and we generate all funds for donations and operations through the transactions of our socially-conscious customers. So sign up, spread the word however you choose, and we'll send you a check.

What does the "Your cause will receive up to" amount mean on product detail pages?
Each product sold on Giveline generates a donation to the selected cause. The amount of the donation depends on whether the customer donates the discount. The "Up To" amount displayed with a product shows the maximum amount of donation for that product - the amount of donation if the customer chooses Donate Discount and waives the discount. The actual amount of donation is displayed during checkout after the customer has made a decision about the discount. All transactions result in a donation - when the customer takes the product discount offered, it results in a smaller, yet still meaningful, donation.
When and how do the causes receive donations?

At the request of many of the organizations we support, Giveline does not send checks for less than $20 unless a special request is made. What qualifications must an organization have to be listed in the Giveline network?
Giveline causes consist of nonprofits, including schools, hospitals, churches, membership organizations, and other causes located in the United States, which are in good standing. Giveline reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to control which organizations are listed and to approve or deny an organization's request.
Will you share my donation amounts with the public?
At the majority request of the organizations in the Giveline network, Giveline only shares an organization's donation amount with the individual organization, and does not publish amounts on the site.
Will Giveline use my organization's name to promote Giveline?
Never. Giveline does not use any organization's name, logo, or links to endorse our product, solicit donations, or engage in any promotion or advertising. We simply allow organizations to be listed on our site at the request of our customers, corporate clients, and the organizations themselves. Being listed on Giveline simply means that a customer may select your organization to receive the Giveline donation. A customer must actively search for and select your organization to see its name at all.
We only use logos/links of organizations for which we have specific agreements for co-branded promotional activities.
Our promotional tools system allows you to promote your organization's existence within Giveline -- including a link that shows your organization as the pre-selected beneficiary. How do I find out my organization's balance?
Enter the e-mail address of record for your organization on the Request My Balance page within Your Cause - your current balance will be e-mailed to you.
How do I change my organization's profile, such as address or name?
At this time, you may contact us with details on the information you would like to change. We will soon be adding orgnization accounts which will allow you to log in and update your organization's profile as often as needed.
When and how will my organization receive donations?

All you need to do is contact us with your request and you will be promptly removed from the Giveline listings of donation recipients. The Giveline network is a collection of organizations that have signed up to be included - we work diligently to keep these listings filled only with organizations interested in participating.
If someone else recommended my charitable organization or cause for inclusion into Giveline, can I find out the identity of that person?
Per Giveline's posted Privacy Policy, we cannot release the personal information of our users, including the individual that recommended your organization. It was likely an employee within your organization or an individual supporter in your community. Additionally, any anonymous store customer can suggest a cause, so in most cases Giveline does not know the identity of the person who recommended your organization.
How can I make more money for my organization using Giveline?
By spreading the word! There are several ways to tell people about Giveline. The most cost-effective ways are through e-mail and website links ( click here to get a special link for your organization). If your organization has newsletters or other communications with its support base, including a feature or links to Giveline may generate some store traffic as well. The most effective tool in terms of raising significant funds is through your corporate partners -- when they spend their company's gift and reward budgets (for their customers and employees) on Giveline gift cards designated to benefit your organization.
